Ever since I can remember, I've referred to everything in life in either orchestration or gustatory terms...As a flavor, for instance, lemon blows everything else away; the equivalent in the symphony orchestra is the piccolo (the book "Jamming" by John Kao of San Francisco explains this concept better than I ever could). And when I was in the studio with my brother Bruce Swedien, I'd always tell him to "Put a little more tabasco on that ending!" or "Sprinkle some salt on that bridge!" The funny thing is, Bruce didn't even have to clarify!...he knew EXACTLY what to do when he heard those words. \(^o^)/ Absolutely nothing better than cookin' up some orchestrations! Food & music always go hand in hand because it’s all about mixing flavors. As the great Ben Webster used to tell me...“eat the food, listen to the music, & learn 30 to 40 words in every language”...The code to culture!
