We visited award-winning designer and decorator Michael S. Smith at his Santa Monica studio to talk about his design philosophies and ‘Rooms as Portraits', two upcoming auctions in London and New York of interiors decorated by Smith.⠀

‘I’m obsessed with the idea of conveying a sense of a person, a sense of life and diversity,’ says Smith of his designs. ‘When people walk through the salerooms in London and New York, hopefully they’ll get a sense of what it was like to inhabit those rooms.’⠀
