for me, matcha ? is my legacy + it’s part of my heritage... not a “trending” ingredient — yet a part of my spirit + my family’s past. As the population of Japan is declining, I do take my job a bit more serious. excited for what the future has to hold in sharing more true wellness with you. truly feel grateful + enjoying these little moments of recipe development + sharing my family’s traditions with you xx 1- matcha is a powdered green tea, you’re ingesting the whole ? leaf, thus you’re getting more nutrients and vitamins/antioxidants & amino acids. 2- In the early ninth century, years 805 and 806, two young monks, Saichō and Kūkai learned of Buddhism and brought back young tea trees from China to Japan. 3- Green tea bricks were also once brought from China to Japan, by way of the monks. 4- The Japanese then created & perfected the art of matcha tea ceremony. A way for all to chill, relax and converse. 5-Years later in 1191, a Japanese monk named Eisai traveled to China to learn Zen Buddhism and study tea seeds, which he brought back and planted in Kyoto. He is the author of a diary-style book, Kissa yō jō ki, which is a study of drinking tea as a way of life. He believed that tea is the elixir of the immortals “Fushi no reiyaku.” Perhaps it helped them to better focus back then, to meditate, to stay calm, to focus and stay mentally sharp. 6- Yes, even the samurai, enjoyed matcha tea to chill. This is true. 7- Matcha is a prized ingredient in Japan ?? & we should have respect for us history & those who still share the #matchalove with integrity xxx for more matcha knowledge hop to my website CandiceKumai.com, MatchaMasterclass.com & sign up for my newsletter for my next events in LA and NY! ?⚡️⚡️⚡️keep tradition + heritage alive & know your facts & who you’re following in food/wellness. ??????
