On assignment for a story on the great ice age floods, (also known as channeled scablands) that wiped the soil off the lands of eastern Washington State, I went to Palouse Falls to show how much water must have been flowing over this dramatic cataract to create this amazing amphitheater and massive canyon, with a stream running through it that seems comically out of scale. Now the falls that flow there are just a tiny fraction of what flowed from when the great floods occurred from a broken ice dam of Lake Missoula some 15 thousand years ago. // Join @Nature_Valley in supporting the national parks by hiking your local trails.
