I’d like to talk about bullying and how people rarely see what goes on underneath the surface of a victim, the things that happen to them behind closed doors and the words and threats exchanged away from public. Perhaps this picture of exposing my tattoos shows that we rarely understand or expect to find what is beneath the surface because everybody hides their scars and battles well. All too often we are judged, labelled and categorised incorrectly simply through ill-informed perceptions or a lack of understanding from ‘other’ people. Yet it’s not your job to constantly fight your corner, correct others on the facts or defend your reputation because the people who truly know you and matter to you most already know what you are about and who you are as a person. I will never tolerate bullies and as a grown woman I continue to face this - the only way to bring about change is to educate and inform those who display such unacceptable behaviour - to get them to determine how it makes you feel, express where they can improve on their actions and find a point to move forward from to ensure the same behaviours aren’t repeated time and time again. The cycle must be broken. I pride myself on swiftly getting to the point and then carrying on with love and positivity in my heart because I see no need to carry others negativity around with me. I’ve had a recent experience of bullying from a group of bullies and hope that they will now be able to grow and learn how to be kind and respectable adults.
