Ready for a #summer holiday? We’re using Claude #Monet’s dazzling view of the south #coast of #France, painted in 1888, as our inspiration. During this trip, Monet worked relentlessly without a break, somewhat frustrated by the strong mistral wind. At one point he resorted to tying his #easel to the ground in an attempt to paint in the wind, only to discover that his palette and paints were soon full of sand. Nonetheless, he persisted, lured out by the particularly striking climatic conditions and the result is the dramatic vision of a #cobalt #sea rising from a rocky #coastline in this triumphant work.
