Josef Albers’ series ‘Homage to the Square’ occupied the artist for the last 25 years of his life.

Though his name remains intimately connected with the Bauhaus School, it was with paintings like ‘Homage to the Square: Friendly Sky’ that Albers became renowned as a pioneer of abstract art.

His work would exercise a huge influence on many subsequent artists, from Frank Stella to Donald Judd.
