We asked members of our Guide & Athlete team to share some memories about being outside with their Moms’ for Mothers’ Day. The response was overwhelming. We are excited to share these stories of inspiration, achievement and Mom’s love all this week. Eddie Bauer Guide @erikleidecker sent in this dispatch from Central Idaho. “The first photo is after we each had a couple of tries on Young Frankenstein, a 5.12a sport climb at City of Rocks. The second photo is my mom (Jody Leidecker) on Provo 5.11b and finally in the giant pod on Gemini 5.12a. All of these are at the City of Rocks late ‘90s.
My mom started climbing after I did, but she had my brother and I outdoors as soon as we could walk. From Cowell Beach in Santa Cruz, California to the high peaks of Idaho my mom sowed the seeds of the life in the outdoors that my family and I enjoy today.”
