#MovementMondays Anthony Ramos is an American actor and singer of Puerto Rican descent. Born and raised by a single mother in Bushwick, Brooklyn, Ramos is not only an amazing performer but a real inspiration.  As a teen, Ramos ambitions lied primarily in baseball but he also enjoyed singing. With the help of his high school theater director who recognized his natural talent, Ramos got a full-ride scholarship to the American Musical and Dramatic Academy in NY. After graduation, Ramos earned roles in some regional and touring musical productions including Grease,  In The Heights, and Damn Yankees.  In 2015, Ramos got his big break on Lin-Manuel Miranda’s hit Broadway show Hamilton (as John Laurens & Philip Hamilton) that has changed his life in many ways. Since Hamilton, Ramos is definitely not throwing away his shot and also using his voice to help others. In 2017,  he reunited with Lin-Manuel Miranda for the song “Almost Like Praying” a release to benefit Hurricane Maria victims and also travelled to his family’s homeland, Puerto Rico, to help out anyway he could. Ramos can currently be seen as Mars Blackmon in Spike Lee’s Netflix series She’s Gotta Have It alongside the talented, DeWanda Wise. “There’s a lot of content out there that, unfortunately, I don’t feel is saying a lot,” he told Huffington Post. “This show talks about issues that are going on in New York and all over the world: sexual harassment, verbal abuse, physical abuse, gentrification, the one percent, the tax break, all sorts of things. It speaks for a lot of people who feel like they can’t speak up or don’t know what to say or don’t know how to express what they’re feeling or can’t quite define what they’re feeling. I’m proud to be a part of a piece of art that’s not only doing that but also giving people the courage to step out a little more and educate themselves on music, culture and political issues.” Ramos is set to appear in films ‪A Star Is Born ‬directed by Bradley Cooper later this year and ‪Godzilla‬: King of Monsters next year. From Bushwick to Broadway to the Big Screen...Ramos is killing it! I cannot be more proud to watch his journey! @anthonyramosofficial ??????
