As a bullied child constantly picked on for my appearance, voice and geekiness it was never my aim to be beautiful but instead to not to be so ugly and different looking in the hope that people wouldn’t notice me anymore and the nasty children would finally leave me alone. It wasn’t until I turned 18 and changed everything about my appearance that I became a glamour model and people called me beautiful. Beautiful for having platinum blonde hair extensions? Beautiful for wearing bright blue contact lenses? Beautiful for burning my pale skin brown everyday on a sunbed? Or beautiful for wearing so much makeup my own parents didn’t recognise me? I’m thankful that I became a mother because for the first time in my life I experienced what it was like to put somebody else’s needs above my own. I didn’t worry about myself when I had a baby who needed me to survive. As a young single mother I found myself, my purpose and understanding of life, my natural skin, my natural complexion and reconnecting with life for what made me happy rather than what other people wanted. I’ve never been more me as I am now, for all of my faults, flaws and imperfections I recognise myself and feel at home - always hold on to ‘you’ my darlings --------------------------
