Thank you @peoplechica & @peopleenespanol for having me this weekend! Feeling love and gratitude that I am able to spend my days surrounded by empowered women. And that events like this exist! Providing resources to help educate and unite women who are interested in elevating their careers, personal development, and connecting with like-minded individuals.💪🏽👭💛 - Kind-of off topic but I wanted to share a breakthrough that Noe and I had after a quick convo with @jeannettekaplun on Friday at the luncheon. We were discussing how her English+Spanish approach to blogging has helped to unite women of any and all Latin origin- EVEN THOSE WHO DON’T SPEAK SPANISH. For those of you who do not know, I am half Colombian. Unfortunately, I do not speak the language fluently. It’s honestly my only real regret in life. That I didn’t embrace it more as a child and young adult, and learn the language. Now don’t get me wrong, I LOVE the culture. The food, the music, the passion. I identify so strongly with my Colombian roots but have always felt almost embarrassed to show it. Why? Because I felt like I really didn’t have a right to. - A few weekends ago, my Abuelo celebrated his 90th year on this Earth. All of his siblings flew to Miami to be with him and I found myself in awe of the love between them. The closeness I saw amongst them resonated with the relationship that I have with my siblings and I realized that that bond is a part of my Colombian roots. That culture is more than the language you speak or the surname you hold. It’s the way you love and the way you live. When approached like this, i think it’s safe to say, that the ways in which we identify with our families and cultures are also a little unique. And when frames like this, I can feel the Latina pride swelling in my chest.🇨🇴 - I wanted to share this because I know that my siblings and I are not the only ones who may suppress their desire or ability to identify with parts of their heritage. I am encouraging you to explore if this resonates with you.🌎💫💕 #latina #poderosas #womenempowered
