I’ve been working on this project for about two months now. And I’ve been on the brink of sending for about one month. It’s just dragging on and on.

Bouldering at this level is a two stage process: (1) Get strong enough to actually send the climb by sessioning it to submission. (2) When you’re physically strong enough to send it, try to not to lose your mind while waiting for a weather window to actually put that hard-earned strength to use before it dwindles away.

All it takes to disrupt the process is a perfectly unlucky sequence of suboptimal weather just on the days that it counts. Enter a cycle of too many forced rest days, lose touch with the moves, re-recruit the muscle memory at the cost of needing rest days, recover, bad weather again, lose touch again.

Sometimes the best strategy is to just let it go and come back another time with a fresh mind. But I’ve always been terrible at quitting.

If you expect perfect weather, you could always just stay in the gym. Weather plays an inseparable part of rock climbing. Making those moments count when (or if) you get the chance is what makes it that much more special in the end. ? @agrphoto
