Here’s a picture of a rock I’m very much psyched to climb at the moment.
It’s been some time since I’ve been this driven to complete one specific climb. Perhaps The Finnish Line in South Africa and The Great Affair in Australia most recently, but all in all those were both relative short-lived endeavors. Throughout the process with Burden of Dreams my perspective on many things was irreversibly broadened. With completing such an enormous undertaking came also the realization that most any boulders around today wouldn’t suffice to significantly elevate my climbing level or go on to teach the invaluable lessons that can only be learned from going against the potentially impossible.

For a moment there I forgot the feeling of being consumed and driven by just one simple thing. Even if only for some time, that’s this project for me right now.

I, like many others, have been speculating about this project for many years now, never daring to get invested in it. This year I did. One of my favorite things about climbing is witnessing these concrete shifts in perception and attitude. Now all the moves have gone and the project is a real thing. Time to start piecing it all together.
