Painted in 1910, ‘Studie für Landschaft (Dünaberg)’ is an example of the intense, expressive oil studies that Kandinsky created during his time in Murnau, Germany.

Alongside fellow artist Gabriele Münter, Kandinsky spent weeks at a time in their Murnau retreat, taking long walks and painting ‘en plein air’.
