These hands have been grappling with rocks for nearly 20 years. Never have they been so soft and un-callused. Before I was a climber, I was riding my bike ? , swinging on the monkey bars, climbing trees ?. I was a tomboy in a sense, but always had my dolls in tote showing them the ins and outs of trails, streams, building forts, etc. Now though, my hands are soft and it often catches me off guard. I look at them and they tell a different story, a story that hasn’t much to do with climbing as of late. A story of a different focus, battling with injury, reading more books, experimenting in the kitchen, and learning all about starting a non profit. It’s a different story for me right now, but one I’m thankful to be undergoing. But I will admit that when I went to play around on super easy boulders the other week with @briskventure it felt oh so wonderful to have chalk on my hands, and rock beneath my finger tips. The feeling that it illicit was one of power, of me finding my wings ?, and feeling grounded in knowing that I am right where I should be. ??
