On my nanny’s favorite holiday, her love, my grandpa, suffered a stroke. He’s in the hospital now, but not feeling or doing very well. He has impaired speech and movement. Earlier today, while hiking with Fallon I was telling him all about my Nanny and grandpa. Feeling thankful that they are my family, thankful that these two always brought me camping and fishing and exploring during the summer months. Memories to always be remembered. I was talking about how he’s survived heart attacks where the doctor predicted only 4-6 more years to live. It’s been over 10 years since that has happened. He’s a fighter. And he’ll fight through this, but it breaks my heart. My Nanny is sad, her person won’t be the same. So tonight, as we are all spending it with loved ones, let’s be thankful for life, for every moment we get to share with one another, and for all of the wonderful people in our lives. Nanny, Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday too, and as you’ve always told me, it’s the only holiday where our society isnt consumed with gifts and spending money. It’s about loving one another and being thankful. ??
