Andasibe-Mantadia National Park, Madagascar // Some creatures are so perfectly adapted to their surroundings that they can quite effectively disappear in plain sight. This is the magic of camouflage, and I have seen few better examples of the concept than this moss-mimic in the forests of Madagascar, a stick insect no more than 7 cm (3 inches) long. It was such an extraordinary animal, it almost demanded to be photographed: we’re not even sure what species it is yet. #inaturalist #camouflage #wildmadagascar
