Julio Cantú Castro uses a solar lantern while he checks up on his honey bee hives to make sure that other insects are not of threat to the colonies and that the queen bee is not infected with any disease.
Julio has 25 hives, each of them containing around 1000-2000 bees and one queen in each one. His bees produce around 700 kilos of honey once a year which he then sells around his municipality of 'Iliatenco'.

Fear was the key, and I must admit, I was pretty terrified!
This is acontinuation of the long-term project 'Solar Portraits’ which addresses the important issue of lack of access of electricity around the world. It is a series of portraits depicting the lives of inhabitants of remote areas worldwide who, for the first time have access to electricity through the power of solar energy.
