Today I'm sad.??
Thousands of cat owners, like this one, trusted that their beloved cats and kittens would be in good hands and not suffer in any way from having part of the last toe bone in their paws chopped off with a Rescoe gulliotine clipper and then the remaining nail bed burned out with a super-heated electrocautery tool out of the remaining bone fragment.
Here's a sad letter that my mom received from a cat owner who had 15-20 of her cats declawed by Dr Kerry Yoon. She said he even did one of her cats that was 6 years old.
"I am very distressed that you don't believe in Dr. Yoon. Yes, he does use the clipper but he goes close to the nail bed and then uses electrocautery. If the nail had grown back, it would logically be noticeable by 5 years. If you would like to pay for x-rays then I would quite willingly permit either of my cats to be x-rayed. Dr. Yoon is going to have an article in the Jan issue of the magazine for veterinarians. He also is in the process of writing to all the veterinarian schools to inform them of his methods. He HAS invented something remarkable and you need to keep an open mind that he has done it.
I agree that there are cruel methods out there but Dr. Yoon's is not one of them. Sincerely_ _ _ _ _"
The @avmavets posted a letter to the editor from this vet in their JAVMA journal about his declaw procedure that he says is revolutionary, painless, and not harmful to a cat's well-being. JAVMA edited his Letter to the Editor and took out the fact that he calls it painless and he doesn't use any pain meds.
Also Dr Yoon did not want this cat owner to get her cat's paws x-rayed. (By a no-Declaw vet) He said the cats are fractious and they would have to be sedated. The cat owner never mentioned that her cats were fractious. Could they be unruly and irritable because their paws hurt from claw regrowth?
