Dated to circa 1500, this oak Bust of Christ is stylistically analogous to figures ascribed to the Ulm workshop of Jörg Syrlin the Elder from the third quarter of the 15th century in South Germany. The high cheekbones and treatment of the eyes and eyelids are similar to several of his figures in the stalls of the Ulm Minster. A highlight of our Master Paintings and Sculpture Day sale, see it on view in our NYC galleries through 1 February. #SothebysMasters
