Dated circa 1510-13, this striking panel of Lucretia by the German Renaissance artist Lucas Cranach the Elder was painted during the early years following the artist’s arrival in Wittenburg in 1504, to work in the employ of the Electors of Saxony. A popular subject of the artist, the present work of the classical subject stands as one of the most sensual and beautiful.
