In January I visited the UAE with @National Geographic Travel. The Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi was my favorite attraction. Gleaming in gold and white marble, it’s a breathtaking achievement of modern architecture.

Don’t miss the mosque if you visit the region. Make sure to get up early though - there can be a crush of visitors as the day continues.
