His exquisitely rendered subject was #Lucretia, a Roman noblewoman who killed herself to preserve her family’s honour. This is the finest and probably the only fully autograph version of this particular composition. Its exceptional condition - with delicate glazes for flesh tones and the smallest of details of the hair, veil and jewellery exquisitely preserved - allow us to admire the artist’s highly refined technique.
