Let the holidays begin: @hiroko.masuike, a photographer for @ニューヨーク・タイムズ, captured the Rockefeller Center Tree lighting tonight in Manhattan. Since 2010, the @rockcenternyc tree has been selected by one man: Erik Pauze, Rockefeller Center’s head gardener. Erik spends months scouring back roads along the East Coast until he finds one worthy of the honor. He found this one, a Norway spruce, 7 years ago in Pennsylvania. At that point, the tree needed time to mature. When he revisited it this year, it was looking lush and green, at 50 feet wide and 75 feet tall. “It has a nice perfect shape, it looks great from all the angles when you walk around it,” Erik told @ニューヨーク・タイムズ earlier this month. Tonight, as it began twinkling with 50,000 lights and a Swarovski star, the #? adopted a new role as the centerpiece of #RockefellerPlaza. Swipe left to see more. ✨
