I want to end my (for now!) thankful for series to express my incredible gratitude for wilderness, and for those who tirelessly work and advocate that these last great places, like the Stikine, like ANWR, like so many places under threat, remain wild. “In Wildness is the preservation of the world.” Wrote Henry David Thoreau. I would add that in Wilderness is the preservation of the human spirit. "Stikine" means The Great River in native #Tlingit, and this massive wild river carves a braided channel through rainforest, past glaciers and flows into the Pacific, where the estuary’s extensive grasslands and mudflats, the Stikine Flats, are one of the greatest intertidal wetland areas in the USA, and critical habitat for migrating birds and marine mammals.
