The rapper 2 Chainz (@2チェインズ) has a thing for luxury, so when he was in NYC earlier this month to promote his new @viceland TV show, “Most Expensivest,” he made a beeline for @クリスティーズ. Wearing maybe 5 pounds of gold chains, #2Chainz arrived at the auction house on a windy Tuesday. “I’m a creative soul so I’m intrigued by this all,” he said to Ana Maria Celis, a #Christies vice president and specialist in postwar and contemporary art. “Let’s just say you’re my client today,” she said. But he wasn’t having it. “We’re going to be friends,” he said. “Let’s walk and talk.” In 2014, 2 Chainz — who played basketball at Alabama State University and then sold drugs at a carwash before he fell in with the local rapper Ludacris — started a GQ online video series on the most expensive stuff in the world. Christie’s certainly has its share of outrageously expensive items. Here, @andrewwhitey photographed the rapper inspecting a large #CyTwombly painting. Also on the tour: Sixty Last Suppers,” one of Andy Warhol’s final works; Jean-Michel Basquiat’s “Il Duce,” a surreal rendering of a demented face; and “The Last da Vinci,” which sold for a record-shattering $450.3 million.
