#Scottish painter Craigie #Aitchison had a masterful ability to convey the mood of his paintings through a simple balance of shape, #colour and tone. Through the sparse, almost puritanical, use of #paint he breaks up the #landscape into four parallel, almost abstracted, planes of rich colour. Aitchison’s images were rooted in his own experience and providing the backdrop for this wistful painting of washing lines is his house in #Montecastelli in #Umbria.
