We’re chasing after Wangechi Mutu’s ‘A Dragon Kiss Always Ends in Ashes’, now on view in our #NYC galleries ? ??Regarded as one of the most important contemporary African artists, Mutu was a favorite of collectors Jerome & Ellen Stern, whom over the course of 60 years compiled a unique collection imbued with passion, curiosity, knowledge, a sense of humor and a love of art. The present work, which hung in their Westhampton home, encapsulates Wangechi Mutu and her practice of combining painting and sculpture by threading together magazines images with painted surfaces and found materials. The present work, ‘A Dragon Kiss Always Ends in Ashes’ features ink, paint, mixed media, plant material and plastic pearls on Mylar. #SothebysContemporary
