In thousands of rivers and small streams along the Pacific Coast salmon are moving inexorably towards their spawning grounds. Born in these same gravel beds, they will lay eggs of their own and then die, their bodies feeding bears, martens, birds — and even the trees themselves.  The key to this entire food web is the water itself. We simply cannot save these precious salmon runs without protecting the habitat that they need to reproduce: healthy forests and clear, cold water.  #greatbearrainforest #humpies #pinksalmon #pacificwild
