A total of 69 artists contributed to ‘Hommage à Picasso’, a portfolio of prints produced in 1973 in celebration of Picasso’s 90th birthday. Hockney represents himself as a student carrying his portfolio for inspection by Picasso, who is depicted as a monumental classical bust.
