Miss Texas Margana Wood (@marganawood) didn't nab the Miss America crown on Sept. 10, 2017, but she may have stolen the show. During a question and answer section of the televised pageant on Sunday night, PEOPLE's Jess Cagle (@mrjesscagle) asked Wood about President Trump's reaction to the deadly unrest at an August rally of white nationalists and their supporters in Virginia. “Last month a demonstration of white supremacists, neo-Nazis and the KKK in #Charlottesville, Va., turned violent and a counterprotester was killed. The president said there was shared blame with 'very fine people on both sides.' Were there? Tell me yes or no and explain," Cagle asked. Wood responded: “It was very obvious that it was a terrorist attack. And I think that President Donald Trump should’ve made a statement earlier addressing the fact, and in making sure all Americans feel safe in this country. That is the No. 1 issue right now." Wood received widespread praise online for her response. Video source: ABC/Miss America Organization
