The artist Kim Keever is known for crafting elaborate dioramas in an aquarium, then releasing pigments into the tank and taking pictures of the underwater scenes. The resulting images sit somewhere “between reality and artificiality,” he says. His inspiration comes from geology, botany, and from his own personal experiences of the natural world, many of them from his childhood on the Eastern Shore of Virginia.
