Embroidery designer Lily Yeats was trained in the workshop of William Morris’s daughter, May, at Kelmscott House in Oxfordshire in the late 1880s. The sister of the poet W.B. Yeats and the artist Jack Yeats, Lily played a central role in the development of the Arts and Crafts movement in Ireland with designs attuned to the nationalistic fervour of the Celtic revival. This embroidery is one of over 220 lots from the Yeats family collection which will be sold in London on 27 September 2017. #YeatsAtSothebys #Ireland #LilyYeats
