Today marks my 27th rotation around the sun ? and conveniently fell on the same day as the #SolarEclipse2017. @james_lucas and I witnessed this phenomenon in a small field, Middle-Of-Nowhere, Wyoming. The sun 'set' as the moon blocked its rays, creating a beautifully eerie twilight ? The darkness gave way to sun 'rise' in a matter of minutes. It was enough time to notice the sudden gust of wind, the chill... How quickly warmth was lost in that moment, and how fast it returned.

I've always strongly identified with the sun. I want to emulate it's radiating energy, it's optimistic warmth. Maybe it's just my late-summer self but I like to think of the sun as my element ? Seeing it's power eclipsed today, on my birthday, was sobering and uplifting at the same time. No matter how much warmth we give out, sometimes it's simply not enough. There will always be moments of darkness, of 'totality'. But the darkness does not make us disappear; it merely dims. As the sun kept blazing behind the moon, so shall we keep shining in our dimmer moments ?? #sunflowersaremyfav
