“There's a sacred space between fan and idol,” writes the photographer @jessierocks. “A separation so thin you can feel the artist's sweat.” She has been photographing the crowds at concerts over the past 6 years, capturing the most passionate devotees — people rarely seen by anyone but the performer. These photos were shot at a sampling of concerts @jessierocks has been sent to and ones she just had to go to over the past 6 years. At every gig, she has been gripped by the dedication of those who make it closest to the stage. “They are willing to be crushed against a metal barricade, hundreds, maybe thousands of people swaying and pulsing behind them, all connected to the same rhythm,” she writes. “It’s absolute madness.” The super fans may be weepers. They may sing every word to every song. They may be lost in a trancelike ecstasy that takes over their bodies. “They may scream, jump, shove, be wild,” she writes. Welcome to the front row. Here, fans at a @kendricklamar concert.
