This summer, we selected 6 #poems by contemporary American poets and asked 6 photographers to let the words inspire them. ✨ @heislerphoto read “Valentine” by the poet Katy Lederer. With her words in mind, @heislerphoto took these pictures while spending time with his family in Brooklyn, where he lives. “Poetry, to me, is what is right in front of you every day that you fail to see,” he writes. “Great poets have the ability to eloquently amplify the internal monologue, which is so often muted by outside distractions. Lyrical photography, in turn, is often hindered by too much thought. I often find that when I don’t carry a camera, I see great photographs because I’m not looking for them. This is an effort to not seek photographs but rather let them find me.” #poetry
