Photo @pedromcbride // Virtually uninhabited and ice-covered, Antarctica covers about a fifth of the southern hemisphere. It is the driest, windiest continent on Earth, covered by ice that can reach 4km deep. Surrounding the vast glacial ice, is sea ice, which contracts and expands depending on the season serving as what some call as the heart of the planet -- pumping ocean currents. But size, nor remoteness can safeguard this frozen continent from a changing climate — and in turn, changes to this ecosystem affect the entire world. #antarctica #climatechange
