The day after President Trump warned North Korea of "fire and fury" following reports it had successfully produced a miniaturized nuclear warhead that can fit inside its missiles, U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson aimed to reassure the American public that there is not "any imminent threat" from Pyongyang. "Americans should sleep well at night," Tillerson said in Aug. 9 remarks. “What the president is doing is sending a strong message to North Korea in language that Kim Jong Un can understand, because he doesn’t seem to understand diplomatic language,” Tillerson added. “I think the president just wanted to be clear to the North Korean regime on the U.S. unquestionable ability to defend itself, will defend itself and its allies.”⠀
