"I took this shot at Hakone Shrine by Lake Asahi. The lake is often covered in reed, that’s why it was named Ashi, the short form of Ashinoko that means reed in Japanese. Old scripts say that Ashinoko was the holy lake where trainee Buddhist monks of Hakone Jinja purified their souls and bodies before serving. If the weather permitted, you can even see Mt. Fuji from there. I thought the solemn black of the umbrella matched the rustic shrine to bring out the peaceful mood of the area.” Image captured by Nandin Yuan, @nandinyuan on Instagram. Shot on the EOS 5D Mark III with the EF 16-35mm f/2.8L II USM at 16mm, ISO 160, f/5.6, 1/125.
