Caught up with Netherlands PM Mark Rutte (@markopinsta) on the sidelines of the #G20 summit.

Singapore is not a G20 member, but Chancellor Merkel invited me to attend as the Chair of the Global Governance Group. The G20 comprises the world’s larger economies, hence the Global Governance Group (of small countries) offers a different perspective.

At the working lunch on Global Growth and Trade, I spoke on why countries should not abandon multilateral trading arrangements, and do only bilateral deals. It is a more comprehensive strategy to cooperate for the common good, especially for small countries.
