A leafless #tree in #winter whose intricate branches provide the shape of a leaf, ‘La Recherche de l’absolu’ stands out for its iconic subject matter and luminous #blue palette. The first version was painted by René #Magritte towards the end of 1940, however the original composition was actually painted over a decade later – a discovery made only after recent analysis.
