Don’t cry Madeline! Ludwig Bemelmans’ beloved Madeline wipes a tear from her eye in this adorable original pen-and-ink and water color drawing, to be offered in #SothebysBooks auction on 13 June. Likely a study for the illustration captioned “Fasten your seat belts, in half an hour / You will see the Eiffel Tower”, the work appeared in ‘Madeline in London’ published 1961.
