A #woodstork hunting in the sawgrass of #evergladesnationalpark. These birds are highly endangered, primarily due to loss of nesting habitat which is affecting hatchling success rates. Wood Storks hunt in fresh and salt water but will only nest in freshwater areas, in secluded and reclusive zones. With drought, changing salinity due to ocean sea rise, habitat destruction and invasive species in the Everglades, its become increasingly more difficult for these birds over the years.
