Alice in Chains’ singer Layne Staley died 15 years ago today at the age of 35. His demise sadly came as no great surprise to those who knew him or had followed his career. Even at the peak of the influential Seattle hard-rock band's career, Staley had made no secret of his dalliances with heroin. Tragedy aside, he was an extremely talented singer who knew how to put on a great show. "It sounded like it came out of a 350-pound biker rather than skinny little Layne," said guitarist Jerry Cantrell about his 1990 performance of “Love, Hate, Love” in Seattle. Head to RollingStone.com for our list of his 10 greatest performances.
