"This portrait of Imogen Heap will always mean a lot to me. I shot it with a Canon 1Ds Mark II and a 24-70mm lens. It was super early in my career and I still didn’t know what I was doing. I messaged her on Flickr of all places to do a shoot while she was in town for a show. To my surprise, she responded and we setup a shoot. She was actually standing against a brown wall, holding a deer head in this photo but that’s where my graphic design experience came in to play. I was able to remove her from the background and do a ton of post effects to create this final portrait. With my original passion being painting, this always felt like the perfect mix of photography and fine art painting. I’d like to get back to doing more of this type of work.
