“Hi everyone, my Name is Jeremy Cowart and I’m one of Canon’s new Explorers of Light. I’ll be doing an Instagram takeover today on this account. I’ve been a full-time professional photographer for 12 years and I’m based out of Nashville, Tennessee. My photography journey kind of started in high school when my parents bought me a Canon Rebel. I loved the idea of photography but was still scared of it. I took one photography class in college and made a D. I nearly failed. I ended up becoming a graphic designer instead. Then came digital cameras, which changed everything. I bought my first digital camera, which was a Canon G1, to shoot textures to include in my design work. That was game over for me. I was in love but still clueless. So I bought a book called “Digital Photography for Dummies” to learn camera settings. Once I felt a little more confident, I left my design company in 2005 to become a full-time photographer and never looked back. Since then, I’ve had a wide-ranging list of experiences in the photo world. I’ve done travel photography in over 20 countries. I’ve photographed a long list of celebrities. I’ve photographed a couple hundred album covers, editorial work, advertising work, weddings, as well as many humanitarian projects, which is my favorite kind of work. In my following posts today, I’ll show some different sides of what I do as a photographer and why I love photography.
