@joshhaner, a @ニューヨーク・タイムズ staff photographer, was an early adopter of drone photography. First, he flew a $60 gadget around his living room. Since then, he has aimed ever higher, making videos and still photos high above places like the Gobi Desert and the Marshall Islands while on #nytassignment. “One of the first things that attracted me to drone photography and videography was the ability to easily photograph scenes that in the past would have cost us thousands of dollars,” he told the @ニューヨーク・タイムズ #Lensblog. “It democratized the skies.” Last year, he took this photograph of Felix Condori, 31, the mayor of Llapallapani, Bolivia, sitting on the dry bed of Lake Poopó. Felix used to be a fisherman. But Lake Poopó, once Bolivia’s second-largest lake, is now just a dry, salty expanse.
