Earlier tonight, Prime Minister @justinpjtrudeau of Canada brought @イヴァンカ・トランプ to a performance of “Come From Away,” a Broadway show that celebrates generosity toward foreigners. In brief remarks before an audience filled with exuberant Canadians, @justinpjtrudeau — whose emphasis on welcoming refugees has been at odds with the harsher stance of the #Trump administration — didn’t talk about government policy. Instead he focused on the show’s story, about a town in Newfoundland that housed thousands of air travelers who were diverted when North American airspace was closed in September 2001. “The world gets to see what it is to lean on each other and be there for each other through the darkest times,” he said. @ニューヨーク・タイムズ critic Ben Brantley called the play, which was written by #Canadians, a “big bearhug of a musical.” After the show, @samuelhodgson photographed #JustinTrudeau and his wife, @sophiegregoiretrudeau, greeting people who were the basis for the story’s characters.
