Swipe to see a painting bought for just 50p from a local charity shop and now being offered for £5000.
Having acquired it so cheaply, the owners began researching the artist and discovered that he was a member of the Newlyn School of artists, which painted scenes of working-class life in Cornwall, England, in the first half of the 20th century.
On 22 March, the painting is being offered for £5,000-8,000 — which would represent rather a nice return on the owners’ initial 50p investment.
Harold C. Harvey (1874-1941), Study in Green, 1931. Estimate: £5,000-8,000.
Victorian, Pre-Raphaelite & British Impressionist Art, Maritime Art, Sporting & Wildlife Art – 22 March 2017 at Christie’s London, South Kensington.
