Julie Andrews has worked with puppets before. In “The Sound of Music,” the Oscar-, Emmy- and Grammy-winning actress yodeled with marionettes. And on @セサミストリート and “The Muppet Show,” she vamped with their goggle-eyed denizens. Now, Julie is bringing a new set of puppets into existence, along with her daughter, Emma Walton Hamilton, and @hensoncompany. “Julie’s Greenroom,” their new children's show, will be available on @ネットフリックス next week. Julie plays Ms. Julie, who teaches a performing arts class to 5 puppet pupils. Both mother and daughter want the show to champion the vital role they see the performing arts play in teaching children critical thinking, empathy, tolerance and communication skills. “It’s the bridge across all countries,” Julie said, referring to drama, dance and music. “The hardest part for us with the show was not to get preachy but also to make it wildly entertaining.” Several celebrity guests, including @iamabfalecbaldwin, @イディナ・メンゼル, @joshgroban, Carol Burnett and David Hyde Pierce, came on board for the debut season to help make that happen. After all, as @イディナ・メンゼル put it, “you don’t say no to Julie Andrews.” @tawnibannister took this portrait of #JulieAndrews in New York last month.
